How did you get your start in radio?
I worked at some local radio stations while going to school at Western Illinois University. But my first real start was interning at alternative rock station Q101 in Chicago. It didn't pay so I had to work at Taylor Rental on the weekends working on small engines and setting up weddings so I could pay for the train ticket to get to downtown Chicago for the internship.
What is your favorite part about the job?
I wake up at 11am, put on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt (weather depending) and go to work where I spend 4 hours trying to make my friends laugh. How can I pick a favorite?
Tell us a little about your personal life.
I got married to a amazing woman willing to put up with my crazy antics in May of 2007. We share our house with our 2 dogs Lebowski and Walter (named after characters in our favorite movie The Big Lebowski) and our 2 cats Sinatra and Toonces the Driving Cat. We call her Toonces for short.
Tell us a crazy radio story.
Working in radio gives you great stories to tell. There was the time working in Miami when we were driving down to interview Lenny Kravitz and were rear ended. We left our intern to watch the car and walked through a mile of scary neighborhoods in 100 degree heat to make the interview. But my favorite happened 3 months into my very first paid radio job in Kenosha Wisconsin. Cheap Trick was playing our stations anniversary show and being the new guy it was my job to stay sober and drive them around in a brand new RENTED passenger van. The concert was at a place called The Brat Stop and it was packed. So much so there was barely any room in the parking lot to get this giant van through. It was guitarist Rick Nielson's job to get out and direct me. He forgot what he was doing while I was backing up and directed me right into a wall. The back of the van was smashed. They thought about firing me but decided to just pay the damages and forget about it.
What famous person would you like to have dinner with, dead or alive?
Bono from U2 but not for dinner. I see more of a liquid lunch.
Favorite restaurant?
BJ's Brewhouse. Their deep dish pizza and micro brew sampler and I'm a happy man!
What, if any, sports have you played?
I grew up with soccer and played 4 years of high school football and basketball. After high school I got lazy and played on 16 inch beer softball leagues. In Chicago you play with a giant 16 inch ball and no gloves. It's crazy.
How do you like to relax?
Sitting next to the water. There is something so peaceful about it. We don't have any oceans nearby but Lake Hefner at sunset works just fine.

Somewhere warm and beachside with Universal Healthcare.

If you were a booger I'd pick you first.
If you had to be an animal, what would you be?
A dog! Imagine sitting around the house all day with nothing to do but sleep by the heat and air vent and poop outside. Sounds like the life as long as I had a good owner with a big screen tv.
