1. “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” (PG) Trailer
Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are asked to stop an escaped military experiment (Shadow the Hedgehog) who’s stronger and faster than them. He’s voiced by Keanu Reeves. Ben Schwartz returns as Sonic, Colleen O’Shaughnessey is Tails, Idris Elba is Knuckles, and Jim Carrey is back as Sonic’s nemesis, Dr. Robotnik.
2. “Homestead” (PG-13) Trailer
“Longmire’s” Bailey Chase is a former green beret who has to defend a billionaire’s fortress in the mountains after a nuclear bomb detonates in L.A. Neal McDonough and “Yellowstone’s” Dawn Olivieri are also in it.
3. “Babygirl” (R) Trailer
An erotic thriller starring Nicole Kidman as a CEO who risks everything to have a fling with a much younger intern who feeds into her desire to relinquish control. He’s played by British actor Harris Dickinson, and Antonio Banderas plays her husband.
4. “Mufasa: The Lion King” (PG) Trailer (Limited)
Rafiki tells us how Simba’s dad became king, and how Mufasa and Scar became brothers. Aaron Pierre is Mufasa and Kelvin Harrison Jr. is Taka, the lion prince who grows up to be Scar. Thandiwe Newton and Lennie James play their parents.
The main cast from the live action “Lion King” also returns, with Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen back as Timon and Pumbaa . . . Donald Glover and Beyoncé back as Simba and Nala . . . and her daughter Blue Ivy Carter as their daughter Kiara.
5. “The Brutalist” (R) Trailer (Limited)
Adrien Brody is a Holocaust survivor separated from his wife (Felicity Jones) in Budapest. He then makes his way to America and eventually finds himself working for Guy Pearce while trying to figure out how to reunite with his family.
And here are the biggest movies coming out over the holidays . . .
1. Opening Christmas Day . . . “Nosferatu” starring Lily-Rose Depp as a newlywed haunted by a vampire she somehow formed a psychic connection with. Nicholas Hoult is her husband, and Bill Skarsgaard is the vampire, Count Orlok. (Trailer)
2. Opening Christmas Day . . . “The Fire Inside”, based on the true story of boxer Claressa Shields as she trained for the 2012 Summer Olympics. It stars Ryan Destiny as Claressa and Brian Tyree Henry as her coach. (Trailer)
3. In limited release on Christmas Day . . . “A Complete Unknown” starring Timothee Chalamet as Bob Dylan. The rest of the cast includes Elle Fanning as his girlfriend, plus Ed Norton as Pete Seeger, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, and Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash. (Trailer)
4. In limited release on Christmas Day . . . “Better Man” which is the life story of British pop star Robbie Williams, but with him shown as a chimpanzee from “Planet of the Apes” because he, quote, “always felt less evolved” than other people. (Trailer)
