New in Theaters: “Transformers One”, “The Substance”, and “Never Let Go”

1.  “Transformers One”  (PG)  Trailer

An animated origin story about how Optimus Prime and Megatron went from being best friends to mortal enemies.  It starts out before they were transformers and before they were even known by those names. 

They start out as bots named Orion Pax and D-16.  Chris Hemsworth is the voice of Orion / Optimus.  Scarlet Johansson and Keegan Michael-Key are his buddies.  And Brian Tyree Henry is Megatron / D-16.

2.  “Never Let Go”  (R)  Trailer

A psychological horror thriller starring Halle Berry as the mother of twin boys, hiding deep in the woods an entity she calls The Evil.  They only venturing outside when tethered together by a rope . . . until one of the twins starts to doubt the danger is real.

3.  “The Substance”  (R)  Trailer

Demi Moore is a famous TV aerobics instructor who’s fired on her 50th birthday by a ruthless executive played by Dennis Quaid.  She hears about a black market drug that promises to create a younger, better version of herself . . . with the catch being that they have to split time equally between their older and younger bodies.

Margaret Qualley (daughter of Andie MacDowell) plays Demi’s younger self . . . who eventually refuses to go back to being old, with disastrous results.

4.  And now, some limited releases you may or may not care about:

“Wolfs”, an action comedy starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt.  Clooney’s a fixer, hired to cover up a high-profile crime.  But a second fixer (Pitt) shows up, and they’re forced to work together to minimize the damage as things spiral out of control.  (Trailer)

“A Different Man”, a dark comedy starring Sebastian Stan as a guy with neurofibromatosis who takes a miracle drug and undergoes surgery to start a new life.  But then he becomes obsessed with an actor with the same condition who’s hired to play him in a stage production about his life.  (Trailer)

“And Mrs.” a British comedy starring Colin Hanks as a groom who dies before his wedding and Aisling Bea as the insistent bride who wants to go ahead with the ceremony anyway.  Billie Lourd is also in it.  (Trailer)
