How did you get your start in radio?
I knew a guy who knew a guy...I got started at 15 at another local radio
station here in OKC. I figured my dream of becoming a kickboxing nun
probably had no future.
What is your favorite part about the job?
Absolutely EVERYTHING! Meeting the listeners, the music, the ability to spur
some kind of emotion from total strangers AND I get free t-shirts, that you
can't beat!
Tell us a little about your personal life.
What personal life? TOTALLY kidding...Outside of my show I enjoy playing
texas hold-em poker (2007 Oklahoma State Champion), flying airplanes, LOVE
studying weather, and getting tattoos (that one is a new hobby)....I also
dabble in mixing at the club from time to time.
Tell us a crazy radio story.
So at my first gig, I was a 15 year old high school freshman who was
spending HOURS at the radio station daily. I didn't give my upperclass-mates
time to give me the true "high school intitiation" and I was being a pest
about getting on the air. One day, the program director and the afternoon
disc jockey decided it was time for me to experience that torture and abuse
for being such a pain in the a**...on the air. For the next two weeks they
proceeded to figure out new and different ways of helping me experience
absolute humiliation. THEY: Tied Me To a pole and had listeners come throw
trash at me, made me sit for 2+ hours on a block of ice on Memorial Road on
a Friday drive home, and the worst was when they put me on a dunk tank, that
particular day it was 85 degrees and humid all day, right up until I got on
the dunk platform. Then a cold front moved through and dropped the
temperature to a chilly 50 degrees and windy. I got pneumonia the next day.
I've also done crazy things for a good cause like living in a station
vehicle for 2 days collecting items for troops overseas during the initial
invasion of Iraq in 2003. NO REGRETS THOUGH!!
What famous person would you like to have dinner with, dead or alive?
WOW! I'm not sure, there are so many. Most likely though I'd pick Gene
Simmons. We seem to think alike about alot of things, i'm convinced we'd get
along GREAT!
Favorite restaurant?
Pearl's and Johnnies...I love seafood and a medium rare cheese theta burger.
But feel free to surprise me with Indian food anytime. Chicken Masala is
dank!
What, if any, sports have you played?
I was a baseball player from age 6 til my sophmore year of high school. A
car accident ended that dream, but i'm a BIG believer in QUE SERA SERA
(whatever will be...will be) And as I said earlier, I dreamed of being a
kickboxing nun. Occasionally I will underwater basket weave, play the Queens
cricket and rock the house with some Curling.
How do you like to relax?
Find me a good local watering hole during the summertime with a fantastic
deck spread and a slight breeze and I'm set. But I find that flying tends to
do the same, but not in that order, it's one or the other...at least that's
what the judge told me.
If you had to leave the country and never come back, where would you move?
Austrailia. I speak their language and there's so many different kinds of
people, I LIKE! G'Day Mate...Let's Put Anutha Shreimp Ann Tha Barbie...And
I'd also like to learn the Digiridoo.
2nd Place: SCOTLAND (where everyone sounds like Sean Connery)
3rd Place: The Lesser Antilles in the Carribbean (it's 80 all year and I can
wear a speedo un-embarassed)
If you weren't in radio, what would your job be?
Not sure...this is really all I've ever done, but I probably would have
ended up in the medical sales industry with my father. I did that with him
for extra cash for years. But, again, kickboxing nun.
Give us something really random about yourself.
I want to be the guy that you hear on TV saying: "MONDAY NIGHT AT 7...ON
N-B-C"
Also I hosted a TV movie show in Tulsa for a few years.
And finally, i'm wearing Silk Boxers with hearts on them.
Favorite type of candy?
5'6" Brunette...oops I mean SNICKERS REALLY STAISFIES!
If you won the lotto, what's the first thing you would do with the money?
Buy a Lincoln MKZ and an Escalade...then help my dad pay off debt. Give 20%
to charity. Somehow I'd figure out how to weave the $1 bills into a towel.
What's your favorite pick-up line?
Yes, it did hurt when I fell from heaven, oh that wasn't your question?
If you had to be an animal, what would you be?
What kind of question is this?
Ummm...if I have to answer, a dog. If I pee on it, it becomes mine.
What's your current ringtone?
Some guy making phone ringing noises with his mouth. TRY:
"BBUUURRRRRIIIINNNNNGGGGG..."
